Impeach Bush and Cheney Before Iran In Struck. Beware of Machiavellian “Smoke and Mirrors, good old fashioned Red Herring” Tactics On Both Issue. We Must Force Impeachment and Quash Plans To Strike Iran. Believe No Nice Talk; Do Not Trust The Word Of Congress Or The Administration; We Must Act As If It Is All A Smoke Screen.
"The action I am taking is no more than a radical measure to hasten the explosion of truth and justice. I have but one passion: to enlighten those who have been kept in the dark, in the name of humanity which has suffered so much and is entitled to happiness. My fiery protest is simply the cry of my very soul. Let them dare, then, to bring me before a court of law and let the enquiry take place in broad daylight!"

Apparently they are going to let Denny Talk and ignore the matter; that is the plan. The new Bush, Obama-like lower level communications announced yesterday can be as disingenuous and devious a move as we have seen: talk, declare failure, discredit the Obama approach, prepare America and STRIKE IRAN! I’m not paranoid: just experienced and unable to trust any move, any word from this administration.

Conyers: I won’t take action on impeachment
Chairman John Conyers Jr. , D-Mich., said Judiciary will take a broad look at the behavior of the Bush administration, and Kucinich can lay out his arguments as part of that as-yet unscheduled hearing.
Kucinich, D-Ohio, intends to formally offer a resolution on Tuesday that accuses Bush of lying to Congress in order to get approval to invade Iraq.
Conyers said he wants a public discussion of the issues being raised by Kucinich, but does not plan to take any action on the resolution. “We’re not doing impeachment, but he can talk about it,” the chairman said.
He said such a hearing would continue oversight of the executive branch that has included hearings on the exposure of the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame and the firing of U.S. attorneys.
Conyers appears to be of mixed opinions about impeachment. Prior to the Democrats’ takeover of the House in 2006, he penned a Washington Post editorial in which he all but promised he wouldn’t. But by August of this year, he seemed to have warmed.
“Nancy Pelosi has impeachment ‘off the table,’ but that’s off her table, it is not off John Conyers’ table,” the Michigan Democrat said during a town hall meeting in his district Aug. 28. “Nancy Pelosi, who I actually supported, cannot prevent me from introducing an impeachment resolution against, well I’ve got a long list of people who are eligible

Recent news makes it clear why it is more important than ever that we take to the streets on August 2.
Read the Emergency Call to Action
This coming weekend -- July 19-21 -- people around the country will be participating in the Days of Local Action initiated by the UFPJ Iran Working Group.
Now, before any irreversible steps are taken, is the time for us to speak out against any U.S./Israeli military attack on Iran.
We urge you to take part in this important effort:
1) On Monday, July 21st, join the nationwide call-in day to make sure your member of Congress knows there is strong opposition to military action against Iran in his or her district.
Pressure on Congress is critical right now as it considers H.Con.Res. 362. 102 House Democrats and 117 Republicans have cosponsored a resolution against Iran that demands President Bush "initiate an international effort" to impose a land, sea, and air blockade on Iran to prevent it from importing gasoline and to inspect all cargo entering or leaving Iran. Imposing such a blockade without UN authority could be widely construed as an act of war.
We have already heard about 2 representatives who were convinced by their local anti-war groups to remove their names as co-sponsors of this dangerous resolution! Click here to read more about the work of one of these groups.
2) Ask your mayor to sign on to a resolution urging the Bush administration to pursue diplomatic engagement with Iran. At least 36 mayors have already signed on -- now is the time to approach your mayor! For more information visit the Cities for Peace website.
3) Write letters to the editor of your local papers and to call into local radio talk shows, especially during the July 19- 21 Days of Action. Click here for a sample letter.
4) Sign the open letter to presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama urging him to stand up for diplomacy.
5) You can organize a visible presence in a busy location in your town: a vigil, an afternoon of leafleting or tabling, a human billboard, etc. Be sure to pick a time and location that has a lot of pedestrian or vehicle traffic!
To find out what might be happening in your area, click here. If you plan an activity, please post it on the UFPJ calendar of actions. Many of this Friday's Iraq Moratorium events will be focusing on Iran as well.
Keep checking the UFPJ website for new organizing and educational resources.
Yours, for peace and justice,
UFPJ Iran Working Group
Congressional Panel To Review Kucinich’s Call to Impeach Bush

Congressional Panel To Review Kucinich’s Call to Impeach Bush
But the House committee won’t actually consider removing the president from office.
by Laurie Kellman
WASHINGTON - Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s single impeachment article will get a committee hearing - but not on removing President Bush from office.
The House on Tuesday voted 238-180 to send his article of impeachment - for Bush’s reasoning for taking the country to war in Iraq - to the Judiciary Committee, which buried Kucinich’s previous effort.
This time, the panel will open hearings. But House Democratic leaders emphatically said the proceedings will not be about Bush’s impeachment, a first step in the Constitution’s process of a removing a president from office.
Instead, the panel will conduct an election-year review - possibly televised - of anything Democrats consider to be Bush’s abuse of power. Kucinich, D-Ohio, is likely to testify. But so will several scholars and administration critics, Democrats said.
The hearing is a modest gesture by House Democratic leaders to members like Kucinich who insist that Bush’s reasons for going to war meet the standard for impeachment. Kucinich had said that if his impeachment article is tabled he would just propose another one.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has made clear since she ascended to that post that there would be no impeachment proceedings. But that didn’t stop Kucinich from introducing 35 articles of impeachment, spending four hours in June reading them on the House floor and demanding hearings. The House summarily dispatched them for burial to the Judiciary Committee.
Kucinich came back with a single article, which was read into the record Tuesday. As it did with the others, the House referred it to the panel, chaired by Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich.
But this time, Pelosi said with a conspicuous lack of enthusiasm, that it would see some committee action.
Democratic aides said the hearing could take place as soon as next week.
The impeachment resolution alleges that Bush misled the public into thinking that he had no choice but to wage war on Iraq and implied that Iraq had helped al-Qaida with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Democratic aides have widely suggested those gauging the bill’s prospects look to a precedent: the impeachment articles against Vice President Dick Cheney, which were sent to Conyers’ committee in November. There’s no evidence they will be considered before the Bush administration leaves office in January.
Those were Kucinich’s, too. Republicans, seeing a chance to force Democrats into an embarrassing debate, voted to bring up the resolution. Democrats countered by pushing through a motion to scuttle the bill from the floor.
