"The action I am taking is no more than a radical measure to hasten the explosion of truth and justice. I have but one passion: to enlighten those who have been kept in the dark, in the name of humanity which has suffered so much and is entitled to happiness. My fiery protest is simply the cry of my very soul. Let them dare, then, to bring me before a court of law and let the enquiry take place in broad daylight!" - Emile Zola, J'accuse! (1898) -

From “ Freedom Farm:

From “Freedom Farm: ”Mission “Sam Henry” Ready To Roll Out! (And) We’re Not Done: Impeach, Impeach, Impeach

The precise location of our “Freedom Farm” is being kept somewhat deliberately vague for obvious reasons of privacy and protection of our host benefactor, but let it suffice to say it lays in the confluence of the Allegheny Mountains, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley where once the forces of nature waged a titanic tectonic battle that defies accurate imagination, a fit setting to what may have become one of the staging areas of this nation’s next truly great battles for survival with integrity.

Matched only by the convoluted twists and turns of this administration is the journey up mountain roads in the Virginia Alleghenys to the privacy and secure seclusion of a large farm retreat meeting place for a gathering of defenders of The Declaration Of Independence, in a place aptly referred to as “The Switzerland of Virginia, where: the clouds at sunset mimic the mountain ridge line painting a misty illusion of yet another set of far off mountain peaks, some distant farmer with a sense of humor called his cattle home with the distinctly colorful call of an Alpine horn, deer (fearless of man) closely examine you at great length with curiosity, bears circled at a respectable distance inhaling the scent of the campfire and grills savoring what remains they should enjoy later into the night (wisely instructed we left all left over in their walk paths and they were content with the arrangement), the variety of birds would drive an Audubon enthusiast into sleepless heart palpitations as they too fearlessly examined even filling ash trays and cows grazing at a fence line beckoned the group to toss them fallen apples to consume (the lower branches had already been consumed and as neatly trimmed as by human hands): we complied.

Our retreat was silent, save the sounds of nature and our invasion of that silence, the setting splendid in its natural beauty calmed the fevered minds to the point where rage was replaced with perspective, anger with determination and ranting was replaced with the clarity and lucidity of thought and decision making necessary to the enterprise that lies ahead.

Sixty-Two Advocates from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Georgia, Wisconsin, Ohio, Colorado and Minneapolis gathered in what should be final preparation and planning session before the Democratic Denver Convention.

There was some incongruence in the setting as some of the most Sons of Liberty-like advocates ventured deep in a bastion of throwback Virginia conservatives where Confederate flags are in full and open display and a copy of Molly Ivins’ first book: “Molly Ivins Can’t Say That, Can She?” was found in a village store for $2.00, the original $25.00 sales slip from a Richmond Barnes and Nobles still inside and the binding never cracked. It is now mine and a more than a few laughs were had the past few days as folks read aloud from it around days end campfire. I have this image that someone gave it as a present to some red neck hereabouts to widen his/her horizons, and rejected out of hand it went to the eclectic curiosity village shop, an unacceptable piece of subversive reading material for that area of Virginia.

We prepared a new RV to serve as a home to four for the Conventions durations and as a communications Center now named and flagged as the Samuel (Sam Adams) Henry (Patrick Henry) Communications Center. The Sam Henry Communications Center came together with amazing ease defying the old cliché of frustration that: “There are no five minute jobs.” The name was chosen by skillful manipulation of our group’s Molly who was so sure of her name selection that when we “consensus agreed” with some amusement that she produced a Sam Henry Flag of her design and creation to fly with it.

It was a good omen insofar as the next few days of cooperative effort would unfold. We had not all ever met face to face, but I will tell you now; we have a team with no weak links leaving the mountains.

We had anticipated all manner of frustrations outfitting the vehicle with multiple computers, satellite dish system, mounting platforms for video equipment and installation of an ICOM Systems Digital Radio System, Linear Power Amplifier, Top Firing Antennas and all the bells and whistles privacy/security add-ons.

ICOM system radios were installed on all the vehicles in camp making the journey to Denver and all members were issues on-the-ground hand held mobile units that tie in to the communications vehicle base, a quick erect long range telescoping tower affair was created, tested and practiced with in terms of erection and take down/storage.

Everyone was also supplied with a Credo Cell phone. The/our patron/benefactor’s costs are immense. I assure you that there are candidates running for office who would welcome, as a donation, the money that has been put into the team, vehicles and equipment. (well over $250,000)

The Sam Henry was also outfitted with (4) Samsung 22” 650 LCD Flat Panel TVs. One of our members does RV customizing work and either installed or supervised the installation of the custom technology and electronics, without a hitch.

Equipping other personal vehicle went smoothly as we have a number of Cracker Jack electronics people in the Team. We made only one trip down into the village for some necessary connectors and a few odd and end bolts. One could not have asked for more.

The evening campfire sessions were broken into two segments: (1) Serious Agenda Items, and (2) Free for all.

I chaired the first segment as an experienced chair and parliamentarian, neither skill, as it turned out was necessary as the team became a true by consensus decision-making body.

Those sessions included special presentations and of discussions of them on such topics as: 1) Reconnaissance Report on Denver, 2) Police Weapons and Tactics, 3) What to do if All Hell Breaks Out, 4) Likely points of provocation and violence 5) Maintaining communications and “Operation Re-gather”, and 6) Street Tactics, among others.

Free for all sessions were opened ended brain storming and clarification share and detailing sessions.

We were a true encampment for those few days, people sleeping in The RV, campers, pitched tents, communal cooking, clean up and duty sharing. What may have seemed like play or fooling around once all the technological gizmos were in place was really practice with a fun face on it.

From all walks of life, the team has a wonderful diversity of talent and skills including two recently retired military officers of some rank and 3 former Green Berets. That area is well covered. I am pleased to report that we found no kooks, no drug users or alcoholics in the team…just serious Americans prepared to give their lives on our home soil for a dream and an America they believe in. They, we all know that where we are prepared to walk is dangerous territory.

Earlier today after a full scale communications test and having established contact with other base camps several states away we are now prepared for Denver, Minneapolis and beyond. There is no camp fire tonight. We have bid the mountains farewell for the time being after a festive dinner, after which we convoy-escorted the Sam Henry down off the mountains winding roads to its temporary storage shelter for a few weeks.

There is a feeling of both destiny and mission among those of us who are now brothers and sisters, heirs of The Sons Of Liberty prepared to reclaim our rightful inheritance…an America with Justice, Respect and Integrity restored. The Future Awaits.

End Report….

We’re Not Done: Impeach, Impeach, Impeach

It was purely stagecraft. The day's star witness, Ohio Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich, received a noisy ovation filled with cheering, clapping and whistling as he walked into the hearing room. Kucinich, who has introduced articles of impeachment, exhorted the committee to "support and defend the constitution that has been trampled time and again over the last seven years." ...

White House spokesman Tony Fratto brushed off the action, saying, "Representative Conyers is putting the final stamp on a chairmanship that will be most remembered as a political vaudeville act."

The hearing, technically, was not about impeachment but about executive power and its constitutional limitations.

...Judiciary Chairman John Conyers, D-Michigan, ticked-down a list of items that included, in his words, "the politicization of the Department of Justice, the misuse of signing statements, the misuse of authority with regard to detention, interrogation and rendition, possible manipulation of intelligence regarding the Iraq war, improper retaliation against critics of the administration… and excessive secrecy." ...

While Conyers called the evidence "both credible and substantial," Republicans scoffed.

Texas Rep. Lamar Smith, the senior Republican on the committee, dismissed the hearings as "an anger management class."

... In the end, the committee took no action toward beginning an impeachment inquiry.

I wrote to the paper's publisher, Bruce Kyse, and the editorial director, Paul Gullixson, asking them if they consider this to be responsible reporting? I asked, "Do you or your parent company feel any responsibility for the mess we're in today - the illegal, unnecessary and immoral war/occupation in Iraq responsible for the deaths of over four thousand U.S. service men and women, and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians, along with a price tag that may amount to a trillion dollars or more, the acceptance of torture, the dissolution of the Fourth Amendment and admitted illegal spying on Americans, the disastrous state of the economy, and on and on?

Is there any sense on your part that you have participated in this miserable state of affairs by your dereliction of duty in covering and reporting the news?" I concluded with, "You have no business writing editorials that take others to task for their actions or lack of principles when you bury real news stories about significant issues and print a lot of crap in its place."
